(30.06.2022) Apply now for the study programme in winter semester 2022/23

In the winter semester 2022/23, students from various Master's programmes at the three participating universities will jointly develop projects with the help of an explicit examination and inclusion of so-called subaltern knowledge. The first step will be a workshop in Weimar in October 2022 to get to know each other and find project ideas and groups. Over the course of the semester, these project ideas will be further developed online in small student teams in order to present their results at a Winter School in Lyon in March 2023.

More information on this can be found below in the project for master students tab.

Objectives

  • Connecting academic and subaltern knowledges through sharing research methodologies in innovative forms of thinking, learning and teaching;
  • Professionalising (post-graduate) students with new forms of cultural consciousness, nurtured by theoretical tools and endorsed by practical skills
  • Supporting international cooperation through projects including subaltern perspectives.

Intellectual Outputs

1. Collect and display subaltern research methodologies in a digital handbook; available at shakinproject.eu

2. gather innovative tools for learning and teaching in a toolbox to activate and use these methodologies in more sensitive learning environments;

3. develop a platform for international cultural project implementation to support international cooperation through projects including subaltern perspectives. The platform will propose skills prescriptions and tools, mentoring methods about intercultural professional experiences, and advocate for new professional ethos in culture fields;

4. offer a short study programme for the Master's students of the participating universities, in which research and archive projects as well as artistic projects are developed and implemented in small groups.

Partners

The project brings together six partners from four countries (France, Germany, Serbia, Sweden). Apart from the three participating universities (University Lumière Lyon 2, Bauhaus-University Weimar, University of Arts Belgrade) three cultural organizations are part of the project:

  • The Association Independent Culture Scene of Serbia (AICSS) is a network of around 80 organisations, initiatives and individuals pursuing projects in the arts and culture sector in Serbia and beyond.
  • The Stockholm Museum of Womens’ History (SMWH) is a non-profit association that pursues an innovative museum concept. The aim is to make women in history and the stories of women visible and tangible for a broad audience - not in a fixed building, but through exhibitions, lectures, discussions and participatory events throughout Stockholm as well as in the digital space.
  • The Laboratory of Arts based in Aquitaine (LABA) is a non-profit association that supports the development of cross-sectoral projects in the fields of culture, arts, education, digital skills, local development, youth policy and sports.
